Klopp: PSG antics made Reds 'look like butchers'

Jürgen Klopp accused Paris Saint-Germain – and Neymar in particular – of making Liverpool “look like butchers” as his team suffered a third consecutive away defeat for the first time in the Champions League group stage.
The Liverpool manager admitted the French champions merited victory for a dominant start that brought goals for Juan Bernat and Neymar before James Milner scored a penalty in first-half stoppage time.
The referee, Szymon Marciniak, initially awarded a corner after Ángel Di María’s clear foul on Sadio Mané, reversing his decision on the advice of an additional assistant referee.

Reds loss to PSG sets up Napoli decider

The finale may be how Liverpool like it – an all-or-nothing, death or glory Champions League decider at Anfield – but not how they want it. Jürgen Klopp’s team succumbed to a third consecutive away defeat in Group C as Paris Saint-Germain turned on the style to revive their prospects of joining the European elite in the knockout phase.
Inspired by the infuriating but at times unplayable Neymar, the French champions delivered a deeply impressive performance before losing their way when James Milner halved a lead gleaned from goals by Juan Bernat and the world’s most expensive footballer. Liverpool pressed for a second-half equaliser but in vain. Defeated in all three away games for the first time in the Champions League group stage, Klopp’s team must now defeat Napoli by a two-goal margin on 11 December to preserve their interest in the competition they cherish. It is not beyond Liverpool by any means, as Carlo Ancelotti knows only too well, but a vastly improved European display will be required to avoid the rigours of the Europa League next year.

Sturridge takes his chance to shine against PSG

If Liverpool are going to challenge on multiple fronts this season then Daniel Sturridge is going to play a big part for them - and he showed why in their Champions League win against Paris St-Germain.
You could argue that Sturridge might have had more than one goal with the chances he had, but the reason he got those opportunities was because of his awareness in the box and his movement into the right areas.
Yes, he might not give you the work-rate off the ball that you get from Roberto Firmino, who is incredibly clever with the way he presses the opposition.
But Sturridge brings something different to the team in that he is a natural talent on the ball as well. When he gets possession, you expect things to happen - and he did not disappoint against the French champions.

Behind the scenes: Liverpool 3 v 2 PSG

Liverpool overcome PSG with last-minute goal

It was the second minute of stoppage time when the ball left Roberto Firmino’s foot, when Jürgen Klopp set off on his victory run amid a crescendo of noise inside Anfield. And in that moment, even though these are only the early stages of the Champions League, perhaps we learned some more about last season’s beaten finalists.
We knew they played their home games with fearlessness. We knew they attacked in numbers, that they went for the jugular and that nobody, but nobody, would persuade them to change that policy. But now we can safely say the modern Liverpool have powers of endurance to go with all their other gifts.
Another team might have lost their way after that moment in the 83rd minute when Kylian Mbappé decided it was time to introduce himself to Anfield properly – inside the penalty area, with the ball on his right foot, and burying his shot so confidently it felt necessary to remind yourself this player, holding the keys to the football universe, is a boy of 19.
